Nice blog, for both discovering new songs and revising some of the classics. I’m a big 70’s-era Aerosmith and this song in particular holds a very special place in my heart. I’ve always associated it with a “wintery”, long-road-ahead type of feeling and was pleasantly surprised to find out that the main inspiration behind the song is an actual Massachusetts landscape during wintertime.
I love the version you posted, as well as many other live performances, but I feel that the magic of the song is best captured in the original studio version. The applauses from the last song slowly fade away into the mysterious wind noises and then finally the acoustic guitar kicks in. It’s the little things.
